The best turf depends on how your lawn will be used, how much sun it receives and how much maintenance you want to do.
1. How much sun does the area receive?
Full sun: Kikuyu, Tahoma 31, Empire Zoysia and buffalo varieties can all be considered.
Part shade: Sir Walter Buffalo and Kings Pride Buffalo are often the first options to consider.
Significant shade: Contact us before ordering so we can discuss the actual hours of direct sun and site conditions.
2. How will you use the lawn?
Kids, pets and busy family lawns: Sir Walter Buffalo, Kings Pride Buffalo or Kikuyu.
Heavy wear and fast recovery: Kikuyu or Tahoma 31.
Premium appearance: Tahoma 31, Empire Zoysia or one of our buffalo varieties.
Lower-maintenance priority: Empire Zoysia is worth considering once established.
3. What matters most?
- Shade tolerance: start with buffalo.
- Value and vigorous growth: start with Kikuyu.
- Sports performance and fine finish: start with Tahoma 31.
- Water efficiency and dense growth: consider Empire Zoysia.
